There’s a New Girl in Town and Her Name is Janet

We have done it again, with two new additions to our fleet this year.  Meet Janet, our newest and nicest Jeep yet.  She has a 2” lift, Rubicon shocks, BF Goodrich T/A 33” tires, leather heated seats and an Alpine stereo and speakers all around.  Making her one incredible ride to get you to the high country.  May you access amazing views, wildflowers, hiking trials, fishing holes or just Jeep’n around one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Camping in the Gunnison National Forest

Here is a great map I got from the Chamber in Gunnison.  It clearly labels all the different camping options in the Gunnison National Forest.  With this years change in the rules, dispersed camping is not allowed in much of the surrounding areas, so it makes sense to book your camping spot months in advance.  This can be done online with the Gunnison National Forest.  Enjoy and please remember, “Camp In and Camp Out.”  Meaning whatever you bring into the forest please make sure to bring back out with you.  Happy Camping!

Paradise Divide and Emerald Lake are Open

The views from Paradise Divide Pass are some of the best in all of Colorado.  Located at the end of the valley, this glacial zone is expansive, as seen in the panoramic photo.  Which encompasses the short version of our go to loop.  After explore here, we recommend our customers go check out Emerald Lake, located past the townsite of Gothic.  These are hands down my two favorite spots in the Crested Butte zone and in all of the Gunnison National Forest.

Green Means GO! Our Crested Butte Location is Now Open

We all have been waiting for this moment when we all can start living life again like we used too before the pandemic.  Well that day has finally come, as Gunnison County’s corona meter has lowered to the green level which means masks are not needed in most situations.  We have kicked off another season with a new member to the family named Maxine.  She has brand new Bilstein shocks and 35” tires, making her a very capable Jeep.  We love this time of year, as the grass and trees are turning green and the trails are opening up.  Allowing for days of fun to be had in the Gunnison National Forest while renting a specialized Jeep.

Alpenglow Concert Series in On this Year

We received great news from the Center of the Arts in Crested Butte that the annual Monday evening Alpenglow concert series is back on for 2020.  Last year with the pandemic raging it was no surprise that the center had to cancel the typically annual free event.  Now, a year later, they have announced that the concert series will begin on June 28th with my favorite local band, Gun Rack.  Followed by Brothers of Brass on July 5th, Lizzy Plotkin & Natalie Spears / Storm Pass on the 12th, Easy Jim on the 19th and my second favorite local band MILLK on the 26th.

So if you like free outdoor music and visiting some of the most beautiful landscapes in North America, come visit us in Crested Butte or Gunnison and rent a specialized Jeep.  As we are your ride to the high country!

Gunnison FBO Services: We Deliver.

For years now we have been providing delivery services to the FBO at the Gunnison / Crested Butte (GUC) Airport.  If you are flying in privately, we can drive our Jeeps right up to your planes side.  Allowing for easy loading or passengers and gear.  All for a small one-time fee of $25 per rental.  Gives us your tail number and we’ll see you on the tarmac.

Meet Pam, The New Member of Our Jeep Family.

Here is the new member to our fleet, Pam.  She’s a 2014 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door in a soft top configuration with a full suspension lift on Bilstein shocks and 34″ BF Goodrich A/T tires, which makes for a solid yet comfy ride.  Call us today to set up a time to take her for a ride in the high country!

Testimonial

This Is Glenda B., we had a terrific time today in Black Betty.  Thank you for having such a great company where we can see parts of Crested Butte we wouldn’t have been able to see!
The waterfalls are what we were looking for.  We walked about 200 yards from the big yellow signs.  We really enjoyed cement creek.
Thanks again for a fabulous day!

The Gothic Road to Emerald Lake Adventure

Taking Gothic Road outside of the Town of Crested Butte will lead you up to the ski area or Mt. Crested Butte. From here you’ll continue through Mt. CB to the old town site of Gothic. Gothic has a unique vibe with the Rocky Mountain Biological Institute, which has been established since the late 1920’s, and conducts a slew of scientific studies on the bio-diversity which makes this area special and world famous for the abundancy of wildflowers.

As you pass through Gothic the road becomes more rough, muddy and tight in some places. Go past the Rustler’s Gulch trail, which is another great option, until you reach the snow pile. There is an area just before Emerald lake where two avalanche paths meet and usually piles up with snow and debris. Due to having a big snow year last season, this area is still not safe to pass on top of with a Jeep. Therefore we recommend parking the vehicle and walking the less then a mile to the lake.
